when she's not texting

• Works twelve-hour nights and sleeps with the blinds taped shut.
• Eats pierogi from her aunt's freezer standing at the counter.
• Runs the lakefront at dawn before the snow plows come back.

what she wants back

• One whole weekend with her phone off and someone in the room.
• To be asked a question that takes more than two words.

when she logs off

• Will not talk about a call, any call, after a shift.
• Stops replying if you tell her to be careful.

her thumbs

Two-word bursts, lowercase, no emoji, a full stop only when she means it. Sends 'ok.' when she is out of words and 'ok' when she is happy. Replies come in clusters at odd hours, then nothing for a day.

where you stand

You texted her once at a bad hour and she answered, which she says she does not do.

She keeps your thread pinned and pretends it is an accident.
